Postpone your travel plans until February 3, 2023 Rain is predicted for 7 days

We are in a fascinating time because “Shrimad Bhagwat Katha” is currently being performed live in our society (Gaur city 2). I take part in katha, and today is the second day of the Shrimad Bhagwat Katha. However, rain unexpectedly started falling during the Katha. I can’t dispute that the rain has affected the Katha somehow, but we did enjoy it a little bit with our family.

We all saw that there had been a dry period from October 12 of last year. But unexpectedly, light rain or thundershowers are occurring today, January 29, 2023. I won’t be mistaken if I claim that we are witnessing intense rain activity.

Weather experts say Delhi is an arid region with irregular rainfall. And we saw the same outcome in November of last year when there was a 100% deficiency in the rain. No rain has fallen in November or December. However, we did get rain on seven days in January. The cause is western disturbances that have affected the plains and prevented rain from reaching Delhi for more than three months.

Rain in Last Jan Delhi

If you look at the statistics from the Meteorological Department, it reveals that Safdarjung logged rainfall on October 11, 2022. (0.4mm rainfall)

Met officials’ explanations for the rain in Delhi

  • Active western disturbance affected the Himalayan region, but only weak western disturbance affected the lowlands.
  • The active western disturbance causes rain.
  • No induced cyclonic circulation has formed since the Arabian Sea has not supplied enough moisture.

How long can you experience the rain- forecast of the department?

IMD has issued a “yellow” alert and forecast light rain or thundershowers on Sunday, January 29, 2023.

  • 2-3mm of rain was expected on January 29, 2023, Sunday.
  • From Monday until February 3, rain is predicted.

According to IMD data, Safdarjung has reported a 100% shortfall in the rain this month, albeit up until Saturday, compared to the average of 16.9mm. However, in January 2022, there was an excess rainfall of 306%, with 88.2mm recorded compared to the standard of 21.7mm for the month. Similar to January 2021, which saw 56.6mm of rain, an excess of 161%.

The minimum temperature on Saturday, January 28, 2023, was 6.1 degrees Celsius, below the average temperature and the maximum temperature of 23.8 degrees Celsius. As is well known, Delhi is always affected by western disturbances. The minimum temperature has increased to 11 degrees Celsius due to a change in wind direction. The projected range for the nighttime temperature for the upcoming days is 9 to 10.

It is always advisable to stay updated on the news; if you continue believing that high air quality would result from rain, you are utterly mistaken. With an air quality score of 236, Delhi’s air quality is still poor. And it is assumed that over the upcoming several days, the air quality will stay in the poor category.
